Default window regulator panic

Panic! My right side window regulator is failing - the cable is frayed of course. So I have tried both Blaufergnugen and German Auto Parts; Blau is going to remove their regulator from their catalog because they can't get anymore and German says they tried to fill my order from a number of sources for the Pimax aftermarket unit ($153) and none available, so they also tried to see if any oem units ($300+) available and again none. Now I know it's theoretically possible to replace the cable but I'd much rather bolt in a new unit - that's enough work. I replaced the driver side one with the one from Blau a couple of years ago. Anyone know of regulators out there or a source for a good used one? 1986 Coupe GT - right side. Otherwise, I know I saw instructions somewhere on how to replace the cable so I'll do that if I have to; has anyone done that lately and have any tips? I know these regulators only last so long and pretty soon we'll all be in this boat.

Default You can replace the cable..

You can replace the cable, but it's an *incredibly* painful process, requiring great patience. NOt a fun way to spend an afternoon..
(Well, It *is* better then wrenching outside in the cold, I suppose!)

Critical thing is to match the new length of cable as close to the old length as possible (length between end crimps).
