Default Spring Question

A quick question... Are the OEM suspension springs for a 1985 4000 S (non quattro) and a 1990 80 (non quattro) compatible? Using my iPhone at an airport so may really conducive to digging into the archives. Thanks!

Yes, but as I recall it will lift the car about an inch or so. If that's what you're looking for then go for it. If you just want to lift the rear to match the front you could use 5000 springs, or use front 4000 springs on the back, which is a popular way to get rid of rear droop. Lots of combos out there...

EDIT: Er, I guess I should have asked which way you're going, 80 springs on a 4000 or 4000 springs on an 80?

You assumed correctly... 80 springs on the 4000. Car has had two owners, first one for about 28 years and the second for about six months. Current owner cut the springs so it is sitting very low...and I have a set of 80 springs sitting in the garage.
