purr sputter update
Whoever thought it might be ground wires was right. There are a pair of brown ground wires that go the the ECU? or idle control valve? (you can see them plainly in RallyAudi's idle control valve pic) and one of them was completely broken. I ended up taking it to Keith Anderson's shop - Anderson Motorsports - he does all my serious work. He also found almost no fuel going to one of my 5 cylinders. So he cleaned a clogged port on the fuel distributor; He also replaced an idle stabilizer valve Y hose and replaced the distributor cap and rotor and the spark plug wires. Man does it run nicely now! He thinks it had been running on mostly just 4 cylinders for a while.
Now it's almost ready to go to the event at Brainerd on June 11 & 12 and to Mid-Ohio on July 13 and 14. I've replaced the brake fluid with some new Super-Blue and just need to pick up a spare set of MetalMaster pads.
