Default Can't remeber for sure - I think it's the 3".

My dad is a pilot and he gave me the tube years ago.

Default Check

Unfortunately the dealer is telling me they don't make them anymore and there are none available.

Default Plenty of people go with out I'd assume...

I never saw an increase in performance, except maybe when I turned the hose forward to provide a semi ram air effect. As I recall many people make swiss cheese out of the bottom half of the air box to squeeze a bit more power and throttle response out of the JT.

Default Lots go with out I'd assume...! Intake noise?

I'm thinking that you could go without that hose. You may get a small amount of warm air in, but probably not enough to matter.

Looking at the thick and heavy bit of hose, I'm thinkng the long intake setup is to get rid of intake noise. Remember, when 4kq\s were new, the were sort of 'civilized luxury cars'.

(Not the hooligan rides that they now have turned into! :-)

Default Had holes in the bottom of mine that sucked water from a deep puddle into the intake...

You would be better off removing it than driving around with a shredded or holey one.

Yep, for awhile, I ran without the tube and warm air flapper - Gained some response and tone!
