Default You might want to...

take off the e-code lighting before shipping it over. The RI will usually replace them with US spec lighting and keep the e-codes (by law they can't give them to you). Same goes for the euro metric cluster and other parts. Of course it all depends on the RI. I find it odd that 1996 is the only year allowed in, thats the first year OBD-II was required here. Hopefully they don't require that being added on to pass emissions.

Default She can't be that difficult... she does cook well....

But in 3 years, you have first dibs on holding the keys to a legally imported RS2. Good thing I will be living in Germany for awhile so I can get the entire thing sorted!

Default Might want to double check that...

That "Audi Avant Quattro" refers to the Audi A6 wagon as being similar so I'm guessing it was to import a a post-95 UrS6/A6 wagon or something. Here is the NHTSA document about it.

http://dmses.dot.gov/docimages/pdf26/32974_web.pdf</a

Default I don't know, spending 20g's to get a car here and having big brother crush it......

I'd cry for weeks =( However best of luck to you in going after the holy grail. Somewhat jealous. FYI I also heard if you have a spouse from another country they might be able bring their cars here easier than getting them federalized.
