Default Fuel Consumption

Anybody been keeping track of their fuel economy? I'm averaging about 18mpg (13 l/100k) city in my '86 CGT. Haven't done enough highway driving with it yet...not until I get some issues cleared up first...to check out highway mileage. EPA estimates were 19 city.

Default depends where you live but gas companies have 'winter gas' and 'summer gas'

the summer formula burns alot cleaner and more efficiently than the winter stuff. i usually notice a gain in fuel econ around march/april when they make the summer switch.
i live in Alberta Canada mind you, and only fill up with Shell

Winter fuel has a lower volatization temperature. That's why sometimes if you have a abnormally warm spring, or if the station you use still has winter stock, you can get vapour lock of the fuel system. Same symptoms as dead pump. I remember a few years back, a local garage needlessly changed about 50 fuel pumps in two days.

Not sure if there is any performance difference between summer and winter blends. In theory, cold dense winter air should mitigate much of the difference in fuels I suspect...but that's only a guess.

Default I'm hoping for around 50 -55 MPG, but we'll see what happens

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/48672/4k_td_resto_finished.jpg"></center><p>I am 1/4 through the first tank since the rebuild and I'm at 310 kms.
Once the break-in is complete, we'll see what the real deal is.

Burning oil once again - and the Gods rejoice!
