Default Final update: my car's untimely death >:(

I'll keep this post to the point because I get angry just thinking about it.

Last week on my way home from work I was driving along at around 35-40mph and t-boned a guy who was running a red light. The guy's BAC was 0.27% (legal limit here is 0.08%!). Did I mention that the traffic light was conveniently located at the parking lot exit of the bar he had just been drinking at it? >

Anyways, it looks like all my engine work was for nothing as the car is now totaled. So much for all the free time I had this past summer.

I'm not sure what's going to replace the Audi at this point so for the time being I'm having a fire sale on all the spare parts I've been collecting to try and raise a little extra money. I'll post the list of stuff here in the next day or two so stay tuned. This sucks indeed.

Scroll down if you want to see the horror.

This is maybe the most painful picture to post:

And here's a nifty shot that shows how the dashboard deformed in the accident. Note that the glass is from the other car - the audi windshield didn't crack as far as I remember.

Default That makes two of us my friend......

9 months of hard work and 7000 Euros less i was proud for my baby. Not for long though one month exactly i drove the car for the first time last year at the 31-12-03 and it was totaled at the 31-01-04!!!!! Some times life is a B....h after all. Make sure you give away the car ASAP if you want the pain to go away. I still have mine!

Default Jeff that sucks *** so hard!

You're lucky you weren't killed buddy.

DUI driver's kill 17,000 of our family members and friends every year and it's 100% preventable.

At .27%.......and each drink gave him about .02%.....how many do you think he had?

Answer: "Just a couple officer, like 1 or 2."

Default Sorry to hear about this! :(

Im always afraid something like that will happen to me. You seem like your ok, so thats good.
If the ISV from that car is in excellent working order I'll take it off your hands, just name a price. You put alot of time and effort into that car, I wish there was something more that I could personally do to help. If there is, let me know.

Default Thats horrific, hope the guy gets more then a slap on the wrists!

Stupid bastards who drink and drive. Glad that you appear to be ok. Its been said before, but Audi's really were designed to destroy themselves to save the passengers. Last year when my friend and I got into a wreck hitting a tree at 40-50 MPH head on his mother said "I allways told you, cars are nothing more then a scrap of metal, they can be replaced, you cant." Totaled an 03 Protege, but not so much as a scratch on either of us.(No clue what relevance is to this thread) Definantly one of the moments that made me realize that driving isnt so much about getting from point a to point b, but its moreso about doing it with out dieing. Glad you were ok! Sad to see another 4k off the road though, I hope you find another!
