I've had mine, an 86 CE, for about 10 years now - and love it dearly. Unfortunately my son bashed in the front end last summer, so it's just sitting waiting for a decision to fix, sell it as is or part it out.
It looks like I'm going to pick up an 84 that's had some attempts at track prep - and move all of my modifications over to it plus have the head ported and polished while I'm at it. I'm also considering adding a turbo. It has super sweet wheels (16 x 10) and tires, so it can get the added power to the road. I'll upgrade the brakes at that time too.
The 86 was set up really nice for the track with H&R springs, Addco rear bar plus front bar from a quattro, 272 cam, throttle body, K&N air filter, ss catless exhaust, 15" Speedlines with track tires, plus a few other improvements.
My plan is to have it done in time for Mid-Ohio - hope to see Hal over there again - and anyone else from this list. I was really fun getting a chance to run all the Type 85's together on the track for one session!
