Try Sylvania SilverStar or SilverStar Ultra...huge difference.
If you decide to try the BMW headlights, then keep us posted. If it works for you I'll probably follow your lead and install them.

http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/Products/ProductComparison/default.htm</a

Lighting stuff. My thoughts.
Never heard of someone using BMW lights. Someone did put some Lincoln or Caddy lights in at one point.
I've been down several paths with my headlights.
My first upgrade from stock was adding a relay system and Osram Silverstars. This was a big improvement.
I then went to a set of Frankensteined Pre-85 (Flat) H4's. Was a huge improvement as well. But the styling mismatch bugged me. (I still have these if anybody is interested.)
From there, I went to H1/H4s with a rebuilt relay setup. Low beams are the same as above, but the high-beams are godlike.
A word of caution if you are looking to buy the European lights. You HAVE to buy lights from a country where cars drive on the right hand side of the road. Both of my sets came from Luxembourg. If you were to buy lights from say England (LHD), your headlights would very badly blind oncoming drivers.

The guy (CReber) stopped by my office one day in his white 4kq w/ Lincoln lights.................
not my cup of tea. They did not look good up close. Stick with Audi factory stuff (Euro specific)

I agree
Just when Brad mentioned that combo I immediately remembered the photos of it.
I like how people incorporate other ideas, but for my car I like OEM goodies.

At that price..
At that price, I'd wonder what you are getting. Housings, sure. BUt then you still need the ballast and ligths and the electical bits..
Really, the Euro H4 light assemblies aren't *that* expensive, and are really easy to install.
Their light output is preety good. Maybe not as good as the 'aero' H1/H4 or older quad square h1 & h4, but WAYYYY better than the stock 'areo' headlights.
