Default 1996 A6 Avant 2.8 quattro HELP: clicking and brake lights.

Hey guys, just got this car for $600 and would like to make it nice. It makes this sound described in the video linked below. Also, only the top center brake light works. All the tail lights work. I checked all bulbs and fuses. The top center tail light also blinks in sync with the clicking sound. What could I be dealing with here? Help appreciated. Thanks.

I didn't see that you have the turn signals on, or the 4 way flasher on. Do you have turn signals? A click of that speed is generally the sign of a bad connection (usually ground) somewhere. The fact that it stops when you put your foot on the brake means that the problem is in your brake light/stop lights circuit.

This used to be the way knowledgeable people knew they had a turn signal bulb out, (It clicked at double speed compared to normal).

It's probably going to be a nightmare to figure out, but I can almost certainly tell you it is a bad connection SOMEWHERE. I'd start with the taillights and check those connections, and the bulbs' connections. Then I would move to the emergency flasher switch, pull it and check it. Then I would move to the fuse box.
