Default alright

Heater core 443 819 031C and 443 819 031D are different. The D part number has larger diameter inlet/outlets. Worlpac sites list the C for all C4s, which is wrong. I believe Seattle Scott had the same experience.

I think the D version is a dealer only item.

I added this to my write up below.

Default I had the same problem but I think the original replacement part was worse.

The original replacement was a classical brass and copper type core. I think the hose connections were 16 mm OD. I do remember getting the other replacement I used and the hose connections being smaller than the original but workable. If I remember correctly I went from a 20mm fitting to an 18mm fitting like your replacement. You actually want a plastic and aluminum heater core because of the red acidic coolant we have...if I recall correctly.

I was in a jam when I discovered the replacemnt part wouldn't work and after talking to several parts places, emailing some people, etc., I ended up going to the Audi dealer and getting the part for about $80.

So, sorry I didn't write anything down or save any emails but I do remember the replacemnt having a smaller OD hose connector than the original. It works. I thought about putting some RTV on the outside of the connectors before I put the hoses on but didn't.

Default So i'm guessing Audi thought the smaller OD heater core would be ok...

as long as the clamps are tightened down sufficiently.

Default Re: paging Seattle Scott...

I would say just clamp them down good! But me personally would not have gone with the plastic pipes again! Suckers will most likely crack again!!

Default I have no idea if Audi approves everything their suppliers do. It isn't the best solution but

it probably saves money.
