post EGR cleaning questions
well, it was on my mind so i decided to clean my egr system this weekend. when i got the throttle body off, i actually found a stalagmite of rock hard carbon protruding from where the little hole in the manifold should have been. that was a major pain to chip out. then there was all that goop in the tube.
anyway, i got everything all squeaky clean in there, in the egr valve, and used the thin steel cable in corless drill snake technique for the tube down to the exhaust pipe.
question 1: would there be a clog where the egr tube meets the exhaust pipe? i didn't see much accumulating on my steel snake and didn't have the sense to blow into the tube while everything was still in pieces. i can feel the collar where the tube meets the exhaust, but can't see it at all and really hope it doesn't need to come off.
question 2: how many ohms resistance should there be on the EGR temp. sensor terminals when hot vs. when cold? i assume i can diagnose whether this piece is faulty in the same way as the ECT sensor. right?
question 3: why else would my check engine light (code 2411) be coming back to haunt me after cleaning the EGR and tube into manifold? it took twice as long for the light to come on at highway speed as it did before cleaning, and the engine feels generally happier and a bit more spritely, but there's that light again. arrgh.

Vacuum Line....check for cracks-leaks
I had the same syndrome after doing this. Finally found a (small) crack in one of the vacuum hoses. With the braided covering on the rubber hoses, it's hard to see small cracks in the rubber. The rubber gets very heat brittled, and doing this job does flex them a bit.
