Hey there!

Can anyone please tell how can i tell which one i have in my c4 a6? My car originally had 2.6 110 kW, but the previous owner changed the engine to 2.8 142 kW one. He said he took the engine from some c5 generation a6.

But i want to be sure. I know there ain't any VIN on the bay. Are there any detail differences between c5 and c4 142 kw engines?

At least in the US, the C4 had the 2.8L 12V V6. The newer C5 had the 2.8L 30V (i.e., 5 valves per cylinder) V6, which is what you picture shows you now have in your C4.

Yeah, i have the C5 142 kW. The oil cap is positioned differently than that of C4.

Also, they sold 30v 142 kW for C4 here in Europe. Basically C4 and C5 30v engines are the same.
