Auto trans Erratic shifts
Well i bought another 100. A 1992 Automatic 2wd 100CS. Well, it seemed just fine. but when its cold, it will hold the shifts alittle too long, and somtimes, just 1 time from 2-3 it will just fall out of gear for maybe 2-4 seconds, then just go right in and never do it untill the car is cooled down. When driving its sort of just to quick to downshift, downshifts for no reason, somtimes its smooth, other times it just bangs into gear. No limp mode, no codes. I changed the fluid, no change.
Im wondering if the transmission computer might be going bad. the symptoms seem to get worse if put into sport mode. Anyone with similar issues or ideas? Im seeing some issues about the temperature sensor for the ATF thats part of the wiring harness can be to blame. Anybody see this? Anybody actually find a replacement harness?

This fits the AZB 097 Trans.

They have solenoids too, just have to ask. Gonna have a go and see if this new harness w/ temp sensor improves the transmission. Gonna ohm out the solenoids see if any are out of spec, and possibly replace the one responsible for 3rd gear shift. I found this

which has really helped understand how this thing works and which solenoid i would want to replace.

I believe that the trans was designed to hold the shift a little longer when the temp dropped to a certain degree to aid in the warm up of the engine.
I have some rear disc calipers for a front wheel drive A6 that may fit your car(s). Don't have an Audi any longer so I'm cleaning out the garage. Hate to just toss them, but if you want them, they are your for the cost of shipping. Will probably fit in a USPS medium size box and if it fits it ship for one low price (15 bucks). Let me know.

Ok it got real bad, every 2-3 shift would flare very high and then go into gear. I pulled out the valve body, and found 2 spool valves hanging up in thier bore. I just use 800 grit and polished them untill they were smooth and it seems to have fixed it! New wire harness. i found the line pressure control solenoid that was shorted internally. Replaced that. This thing works GREAT now. No more holding shifts forever, no more banging, no more flare. Its really hard to belive this thing has 190k on it lol.
