Default Alignment adjustment?

Hey guys, need some direction & advice with this one.

Today I went in for a routine rotation & wheel balance (5-6K miles). They also checked my front alignment and it was out of spec. My '95 A6 is front drive only.

I ended up leaving because they could get the toe adjuster to move. The nut comes loose but the adjuster would not turn. The were reluctant to torch heat it and risk burning up a dust cover or something.

I've already paid another alignment shop 2X in the past to free up that same problem. They heated with a torch and were able to break it loose to then align.

My questions are, should I be doing a periodic WD40 to the adjuster and where? Secondly, should the adjuster be freezing up again only 7 months later? What is going with the frequency?

Thoughts appreciated, Tom G

I always use anti-seize compound on the threads.

Default ^^^Agree^^^ Anti-seize is your friend...

The toe adjustment is done with the tie rod ends. They hang out in the open in the fenderwells. If you live in the Rust-Belt, they'll corrode in a hurry.

WD40 isn't a very good penetrant. PB-Blaster might work better for that purpose. Soak the threads over a few days and then go back for that alignment.
