Is anyone else puzzled by Audi's reticence to announce the price for the S4? The dealers are falling over themselves taking orders but still cannot quote a firm price for the car or its' options. Is it my cynical nature or do I smell some price fixing in the air much like the floating odds before a big prize fight?
I expect dealers to get every cent out of a perspective client when and by whatever means they can but I never expected Audi to foster a climate where the potential car price will be determined by market speculation like another over-hyped Internet company IPO.
The build date of June has been announced for these cars. The deliver date of September has been projected as well. I find it hard to believe that the cost of labout, materials etc... has not yet been calculated to the 1000th of a pannie by the Audi bean counters by now.
Anyone else have the same sinking feeling?

Saturn LS is having the same thing. They are due out in July, and people are ordering the car like crazy (something like a three month wait now, and that does not include the time to July 8th) and Saturn has not yet annouced a price. Figuire this, Audi will probably announce the price on the S4 sometime in late May to early to mid June. I think the S4 is due out in August?!?.
Saturn is going to be stating the price at the end of the month. Suprised about the price hold on the S4, no. I would be extremely suprised if the car was out already,
Wish Audi would release the price so that I could at least begin to plan my finances. It's frustrating definitely. Just gave up my #1 waitlist spot b/c I want to know how much the car is. Money has definitely become the most important issue now that we can get the car.
I could probably swing it, but I am not SO rich as to not have to ask for the price, and damned of if I am going to sign my name to a blank check, which is what you do if you order the car without a price quote. Invoice, 10% over, 15% under, it all makes no difference. That great invoice deal is fine ... 'cept if they deliver the car at $49k instead of the assumed $41k!
I gave up my spot too. I'll save the $$ now, not take the same depreciation hit on a new car, and pick one up in 2-3 yrs. ... or a 95.5 S6, or something else a little more affordable ... where I know the price when buying it!
Jon

No, and neither does your dealer, and probably neither does AoA. Does this make them some evil conspiracy? Why should the S4 price be announced prior to the A4 price?
