I'm going to order a 99.5 soon, and I am still not sure of what options I want...
-definately onyx color interior, but leatherette vs. cloth
-sport seats vs. regular seats
-Silver ext. vs. Santorin Blue
-definately Sport package, Quattro, sunroof, trip computer....
Take care everyone, I'll let you know how Don Douglas or Beverly Fried is at Palisades Audi.
Later
minimum 3hr drives and they are quite comfortable. I have the Leather 2.8 Sport Seats with the Heated Option. The Heat is great, especially on the lower back with a T-shirt on during winter drives. The seats themselves are really comfortable, too. Much more comfortable than my old 94 Integra seats (used to give me a backache on the same drives).
Kirk
wouldnt black make it fry inside the car, especially in SoCal?

I love the sport seats. Wouldn't ever trade them for the unbolstered seats.
Corey S
Wett 97 1.8TQM

The sports seats are very comfortable, and one of the "no brainer" options to me. Ive taken long trips in mine, and never had any problems, though I have a tendency to get back aches in other car seats. I cant be in our '98 Jetta more than maybe 10-15 minutes before I feel uncomfortable.
If you arent prepared to go with the MUCH more expensive aftermarket Recaros (or equivalent) and want more support than the stockers offer, get the sport seats. You will NOT regret it. I do recommend sitting in them prior to buying them.
Joe M
98 A4 Avant T

For larger backed people the sports seats may be worth it, I was planning on getting them until I test drove with them. I'm 5'7" and 150lbs. The side bolsters were no where near the sides of my back. For me they were just a bit firmer than stock and $500 pricier. I passed.
I've got a bad back but the stock seats have not bothered it one bit. It actually feels better after a drive (I think my posture sucks). This isn't just for short drives; I've driven down to LA and been stuck in traffic for an 8 hour drive. One stop for gas and food and my back felt great.
On the subject of making sure the seats fit well, I was visiting the parents for x-mas and I found sport seats that give me great lateral support. IN MY PARENTS 4-RUNNER!! The optional sport seats even have side bolster adjustments! My dad (larger than me) HATES them, even adjusted the bolsters are too tight. Do the A4 ones adjust? If so it could have been better, but I asked the dealer and he didn't think they could be adjusted.
