I'm currently using an old Motorola car phone. Plugs right into the existing wiring. It works fine...gets the job done. I'm wondering what the features/functions are on the Audi (Motorola) phone. It's a bit pricey ($350), but if the features/functions are worth it, then I'll consider buying one.
Any thoughts/opinions from those who had one or have one?

at home, I have a phone. At work, I have a phone. Most everywhere I go, there is a phone that I can use to make calls or receive them. So, a phone for the car can stay in the car. Besides, I have enough stuff to carry without having to worry about losing a cell phone or having it swiped.

I'm not positive, but I think we have 3 watt power when connected this way. That's the kind of thing I want for the A4.

I do a lot of field work where having a portable phone would be advantageous.

I had the Audi phone installed at my dealer last month. It was $671 installed. I got the cellular service myself, and it took all of 10 minutes to walk through the programming with the service provider's tech. Features:-
- the phone is analog, there are no plans (per AoA) for digital
- the comes with a bracket assembly that lifts it up and forward out of the armrest
- it mutes the radio, and puts "PHONE" on the trip computer when in use
- it can be programmed to autoanswer after 2 rings (neat, you leave the armrest closed)
- there are about 10 pages of functions you can program, eg last numbers recall/redial, grouping frequently called numbers (ie work numbers under 1x, friends, 2x etc), name recall memory, several autolock features, pause between dial options for voicemail, etc.
- it does not come with voice recognition/activation
Hope this helps. //Steve
