View Full Version : Alpine CD Changer for Delta Radio - Found Good Price - $345 DaveL 04-26-1999, 05:41 PM at Adirondack Parts.

Adirondack

Baz@Clair.com 04-27-1999, 07:43 AM 0
Cathleen 04-27-1999, 08:10 AM I still haven't plunked the cash down for a changer yet and was optimistic about your post. I called them to ask my standard questions and there were a couple things I didn't like.
1) No warranty. So if in 2 weeks the thing is defective, I'm S.O.L.
2) No installation bracket. He said I'd have to but one from dealer.
He told me that they come straight from Germany but will fit the U.S. cars with no special mods. But he also mentioned that although they are new, they may have a scratch or two. That makes me wonder if they were handled poorly and what kind of inside damage may be there too.
So far the Impex (1-800-736-3550) deal looks best. It is $370, including the disk magazine and the install bracket for the Sony OEM changer for the Delta Units. The Sony does have an Audi part number (#4D0035111) and was used as well as Alpine Changer units apparently. This group does offer a warranty for 1 year. They back this and tell me it is the REAL deal, not an aftermarket part.
So given the option, I'd rather go with the Impex.
Just my take on the subject.
-Cathleen (wary buyer)

DaveL 04-27-1999, 09:13 AM Actually, I ended up closing a deal on Ebay for a used changer.
Dave
Cathleen 04-27-1999, 09:32 AM DaveL 04-27-1999, 10:06 AM Ended up closing the auction at $385 which isn't bad considering Clair would be about $600 including bracket shipping & (tax since I live in MA).
But your $370 deal is a keeper!
DaveL
'97 1.8TQMS wett Cathleen 04-27-1999, 01:13 PM The fact that it IS an OEM changer even though it is the Sony and not the Alpine. Nozomi bought this one and she says it has been great. No skips over the bumps in NYC. So I'm pretty well sold that this is it. Now.....$$$ is what I need. I have to get new tires before Mid-Ohio (May 17-18) and my budget may be too strained to get the CD player this month with all the other stuff I need!
I can't beleive I've gone 3 years with no CD player! Well, the dealer price at $600 was too high IMO when I bought the car, so I'm glad I waited long enough to get a good deal at $370.
Thanks for your input!
-C. DaveL 04-27-1999, 03:37 PM Ebay auctions can get you carried away!
Brakes are next for me before my first track event at the Glen or Lime Rock (can't decide!).
Dave

nozomi 04-27-1999, 04:14 PM By the way, are you DaveL who commutes from Marshfield to Lexington MA?
Marshfield, Mass is the first town I visited in
the continental U.S.many years ago as my sister's host family lived there.
Nozomi DaveL 04-28-1999, 05:18 AM Planning on Mintex redbox all around and I'm currently deciding on rotors between ATE Powerdiscs, Brembo, or dba in OEM size.
I'll probably have it all installed at the NE 'Performance Event'
Are you coming up from NYC for the event? We need more female representation!
Going to any track events this year? Lime Rock or the Glen?
Dave
nozomi 04-28-1999, 10:24 AM |
