So, it's all good after my excursion to the ditch just before the Quattro club event in Vegas. Later it was posted that I had a "trashed suspension". Luckily, not quite. Two tires jumped off the rim and the alignment was more than just off. One rim was destroyed, another one badly scratched. The Vegas shop performed emergency repairs, incl. remounting two tires and doing an alignment, for total $79.
Then the car was for 9 working days at Carlsen. On Friday I got the car but not the bill - I came in today to pay for it. My service advisor was still on vacation so the manager did the paperwork, and luckily they could not account for all man-hours. They replaced the steering rack ($586) and two tie rods ($453). Even though they charged a whopping $90 for balancing 4 tires, I did not object to the total bill of $1700.
I drove the car like a madman late last night over a mountain road and also over super smooth pavements to hear strange noises, and it feels rock solid, quiet, and "like before". The bill is lower than expected and my Apple stock went up, so I guess it's all good :-)
- Stan
I dropped the car off with Eric. He then went on vacation and said Peter would finish with me. I call in and Peter had no clue I had the car there. After not getting thru for a couple of days at all, I called Mike Hobgood, my sales guy, who kept me posted pretty much on a daily basis, and who also gave the car to me without paying since they didn't have the paperwork done. Each time when I have something like this I just go to Mike and he always takes great care of me.
Overall, very good ending for me.
- Stan
