What is a reasonable cost range for each, and which potentially represent additional dealer profit? <p>Thanks.

View Full Version : What exactly are the following fees for? (tag, title, license and registration, documentation fee) Joe 12-27-1998, 12:07 PM What is a reasonable cost range for each, and which potentially represent additional dealer profit? <p>Thanks. Eric E 12-27-1998, 12:25 PM The tag (license plate fee), title fee, and registration fee are set by each state, and are paid to the state. The dealer just acts as a middleman, and doesn't profit from these (unless it's by a token amount the state specifies). I believe license and registration refer to the same thing.<p>The documentation fee, on the other hand, is pure profit for the dealer. It makes no more sense to pay the dealer a special fee to fill out documents than to pay him a special fee to sweep the floor or turn on the lights. JIM H. 12-27-1998, 03:24 PM |
