I am not sure but this may give you soem insight. I recently added wood trim to a 99 Passat and purchased the VW kit along with an exotic wood dash kit. I thought the second was better so I returned the first. Both used preapplied 3m double sided foam tape and applied as follows:
* Clean everything with prep sol especailly well if it's been armor-alled.
* Clean again with rubbing alcohol.
* Soften the pieces with a blow dryer and run the car's heater Then apply adhesion promoter and the trim.
You might try parking the car in the sun and use a blow dryer and a plastic probe to get edges up and then slowly pull or use fishing line to continue.
There were some extra pieces in my kit which I decided not to use and so I tried to see if they could be applied and removed from some scrap plastic. It seemed to work, BUT they only were on for a day or so. Heat helps alot.
Stan
I have an A4 with the Onyx cloth interior. Though, I have to agree, the wood is wonderfull on it's own, it dosen't look to good when combined with the cloth in my car. Wood goes with leather, not cloth.

I have an A4 with the Onyx cloth interior. Though, I have to agree, there is many a reason to think that the wood is wonderfull on it's own, it dosen't look to good when combined with the cloth in my car. Wood goes with leather, not cloth. Furthermore, I don't much like wood in cars. In my opinon, it always looks fake. I know the 2.8 has real walnut trim but it still looks kind of fake. I agree, It's not even close to real fake wood, but dosen't look or feel. like a real wood bookcase
My question: What is the trim in the various 1.8T's. I've heard that it was both aluminium and now graphite. What would look best for my interior color/fabric. Any comments/pictures of the trim. Specifically, what is used in the center dash. In the 2.8 it is wood. Is it aluminium or some other material on the 1.8T?
Thanks for the answers everyone.

The three trims they have for the 1.8T are:
Aluminum trim in Quartz
Aluminum trim in Graphite
Aluminum trim in Maritime Blue
They all look very different. Audi matches up the Onyx cloth in the 'Advance Interior Atmospheres' with the Quartz. It was okay, but I really liked the Maritime Blue. I know it wouldn't fit in the black interior, but it has beautiful depth.
TTFN

the interior of S4, with the trim.
The subject line of my message
The S4 trim is beautifull. I love that skiny aluminium. Can the same aluminium be had on a current 1.8T? If not, will the S4's 99.5 trim fit on my 99? That aluminium trim is buitifull

They and others listed in the links/tuner sites have long had aluminum and other optional trim materials for the A4...
LLTek is (possibly) cheaper than the dealer.. 888.465.5835 / 888-GO-LLTEK
Rich
'98 2.8Q sport

LLTek

That was a Passat GLS which comes with NO TRIM - just plain vinyl. Most of the directions were in my prior post. Once the stuff is at about body temp it is flexible enough to conform to curves such as around the air vents. You can buy the factory trim which is merely wood veneer with a glossy plastic over it and 3m trim tape on the back. So in my case nothing had to be removed from the car. It took me a few hours to do as you have to be precise - this stuff really sticks. If I were to do it again it would take about 30-60 minutes. Now the car looks better than the high-line V6 version. There were 3 types of wood to choose from along with carbon fibre. Cost was about $200 for 15 pieces covering various parts of the dash and all four doors.
Stan
