This morning on the way to work, i slid around a corner and cracked my right rear rim on a curb. It was one of those things: the minute i realized i gave too much gas and was sliding on ice, it was too late! I'm sure i'm not the first person this has happened to, what have others done? How much is a new rim? Any leads on buying them second hand? They are the factory 2.8 alloys.
Also, should i be concerned about other damage? The impact was strong enough to break 4 " of the "little lip" off, could the entire rim be bent? I hope there is still air in the tire when i leave work: it isn't supposed to get above 10 degrees today! A tad chilly for changing a tire!
Let this be a reminder: Quattro or not, on ice there is no grip!
Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks.

1/ Steve @ ronal should have used a4 rims.
2/ there are places that repair rims. The re-true, etc. i have done this at $100CDN a crack. (i had $300 rims, so it was worth it)
3/ HAVE YOUR ALIGNMENT CHECKED. I did about what u did in a laser/talon. This actually bent an "A" arm, requiring replacement, and realignment, and i was only going about 20KPH!!
4/ if cost is not an issue, swing into the dealership. I am sure they will check everything, give u a loaner (JIM H?) etc
hope this helps
1996 a4 2.8 qm
