Hey all...first time posting on the A4 list. I have wanted a 1.8T since i first saw them in 96 and now im in the process of buying one. Right now I have an 86 944T which I love...and am gonna keep. I've tried a bit of of searching but havent been able to find out exactly which turbo the 1.8 uses. The 944 uses a k-26. Ive heard that the the A4 uses a k-24. Is this true? .... if so can i replace with a new k-26 since it is larger ... if not what is the next step to REAL power!??! Help .. Thanx guys! <p>p.s. i cant wait to drive the new toy! <p>/s/Dan

<br>The A4 uses a KKK K03 turbo and not a K24. The K04 is used for up to 250hp and the K24 is used in applications up to 300hp. The 26 and 27 series are rarely used in the A4 as they have alot of lag in applications under 300hp.<p>Ned

A4 1.8T has KKK K-02 turbo, remainder of your info correct.

I was told by Todd at Air and Water that the very early 1.8t used the k-02. They started using the k-03 when they started having the wastegate rod problem. The k-02 has a quicker spool up.<p>Dan K.

I still believe that the K-02 turbo is the OE std., however, I'll double check this & post correction if I'm wrong. At any rate I'm getting the K-04 as part of MTM upgrade kit in a couple of months.
