I'm really contemplating installing PES's supercharger for my 2.8. I've never had blown engine and I have a couple of questions. First, I only have 3,300 on the odometer, should I break the engine in further before making this modification (wanting to optomize longevety as well as performance)?
Second, I've read here on the forum that the 1.8T doesn't experience the same loss of power the 2.8 does at altitude (I never really noticed in my previous cars, but I really do in the A4). Will this also be true of my 2.8 Kompressor?
Lastly, will installing the supercharger change the weight distribution enough to require any modifications to the stock sport suspension?
Thanks for any help you might want to give. BTW, I just read the Autoweek article on the 99 M5. wow

Having driven my fwd 2.8 with the PES supercharger, I would say that it didn't alter the handling any noticable amount. With the Quattro, which has a bit better weight distribution, it should be even less of an issue. The supercharger itself doesn't weigh all that much, as it is a fairly compact unit.
As far as break-in, I don't think it matters. The engine is just about fully broken-in. My 30v felt completely broken-in at about 4K miles, which you are awful close to.
Mike
P.S. Not sure about the altitude question.
