I am going to order a 99.5 a4 1.8 today. I wanted the onyx cloth, which I thought came in a solid color with a wavy pattern in the seat middle. A post earlier today said it now only comes in the checkered black/silver pattern. I called AoA and they weren't quite sure. One person was fairly sure it came only in the checkered pattern. A posting earlier this morning stated that the only comes in two patterns (or ambitions? -- this ambitions stuff is confusing) -- the solid wavy pattern like the 99s and also the new checkered pattern. Can anyone clear this up? I like the solid but do not particularly care for the checkered. Help!

I inquired earlier today. One of the replies might possibly be wrong. The www.audi.de site
does show the Onyx check pattern in the Ambition.
Not sure if the wavy, tiger stripe is still available.
I personally prefer the check pattern, having seen one on a Santorin Blue sedan recently. I found the wavy pattern to be way too black. But thats my opinion, yours may vary...

you HAVE to get the AMBITION Atmosphere. Once you choose an Atmosphere; all the other color's and wood are determined.
There was a shift of some colors between Atmosphere's for 99.5. That means 99.5 interiors including cloth patterns are not the same as in 99.0's.
For 99.5; if you get onyx cloth; you have the "Ambition" Atmosphere. That means everything in the interior is Onyx. The cloth pattern is the same as the 99.0 opal grey pattern. The wood is dark polished walnut.
I like it.
Ordered a Avant yesterday with Onyx cloth interior. Dealer didn't have a clue about the interior cloth changes. Hopefully mine will show up with the checkered cloth, not the stripes
I believe what you said is misleading. The Opal
Gray cloth was a herringbone pattern while the Onyx cloth is more of a checkered pattern. Someone put a picture in here recently of the new Onyx cloth; search the archives for "sport seats" and you should find it.

Well, my take on the fabric fiasco is that most likely the sport seat fabric with the Onyx cloth
will the same as the regular seats (check pattern). Someone just put an entry of his new opal cloth sports seats, and it is indeed the same as the regular seats. So I would assume the same holds true for the Onyx cloth. It would make sense, seeing as they would only need to have one set of back seats, not two.
Of course I still might be wrong, but I do recall seeing a Santorin Blue/Onyx cloth A4 a few weeks ago at the local dealer and the pattern was the check without the sport seats (if my memory serves me).
It just amazes me though, how uniformed the dealers are concerning this.
