I'm new to the forum...been scanning it for a few weeks. Have researched the archives on chip debates, have obtained propaganda from the different purveyors of chips, have looked at magazine tests. My observation is that no-one seems have a "stage one" upgrade for my 1.8 that is significantly better than the neuspeed chip, but there are many that are much more expensive. I welcome contrarian views.

Mike I installed the Neuspeed chip in My new 1999 1.8TQMS 1000 miles ago and I love it so much I am considering their 230+ kit.The greatest differance is the torque-HP from about 3200 rpm's up. You will not be disappointed.

Kirk, my shopping started at Park Place but ended at Central Audi in Richardson. This is a very biased/personal experience but Park Place sells M-Benz, Porsche and Audi in the same general location and my interest in the A4 just didn't seem to be much of a priorty for the sales-person I tried to deal with. I went to Central Audi and the experience was just the opposite. <p>I dealt with Ken (saleman) and John (sales mgr). Both of them are enthusiatic about the A4 and seem to be genuine car nuts. Ken's demo had been "chipped"! Doncha just love it; lots of people in the forum are worried about dealers getting ugly over their modified cars and here's a dealership that chips the demo! I ordered my A4 (1.8tqms, white/black cloth, bose, tint, s/r) and before they delivered the car I got a call from John who asked, "You don't want us to drill holes for the front plate do you?' I said "Not simply no but H--- NO, and by the way....how did you know to ask?' He said, "You're a car guy like us."<p>I like them. I like the way I was treated. I like their enthusiasm about the A4.
