Has anybody in the NYC area been able to take an extended test drive of an A4 (overnight)? If so, at what dealer? Or, has anyone found a place that rents A4s in the U.S.?
I'm interested in a 1.8TQ with sports package. But I want the 16" 5 spoke wheels from the 2.8 instead of the 7 spoke wheels. 2 dealers I spoke with said this was impossible unless I wanted to purchase the 5 spokes separately @ 400/wheel. Has anyone gotten their dealer to switch wheels for free (or for the cost of installation) at delivery time?
Thanks for your help.
John,
I had the same request when I bought mine, but the dealer didn't want to do it because then they couldn't lease the other car, since it didn't have original equipment.
A couple of ideas... 1) Accept the sport wheels - I have grown to like them. 2) Discount Tire (in most car mags) shows 5-spoke replicas and they seem to be reasonable in price (less than $200 a piece). Don't know who makes them or what the quality is however.
Good luck.
Tom
1.8TQMS Silver/Ecru
I was lucky to find someone at my dealer who wanted to swap my 7 spokes for the 5 spokes. Ask your dealer to ask around or call other dealerships. They may know someone looking for a swap.
Wondering how you convince a dealer to swap the street tires on a 1.8T w/ Sport Pkg. for some snow tires? Anyone been successful? Also, please advise what tires you swapped?
thanks much.

John, guess I was lucky! Bought my A4 2.8 last week and the dealer swapped the 7-spoke Sport wheels for the 5-spokes without charging me. In my case, I don't care for the Sport wheels and I also wanted the all-weather tires for winter driving. As an aside, after less then a week with this car.... damn it's nice!!!!
-Scott
