i'm getting a silver 97 1.8tqms in april and have been planning for months to get 16" fabulas for it. i've seen the pic at the wheel rack site, but i was wondering if you could tell me how they looked. was the car lowered? i'm getting eibachs to take up the wheel gap slack. i've seen plenty of silver A4s in real life but not with fabulas. thanx
Mark

I'm pretty sure the car had the sport pkg or at least it had been lowered from stock non-sport. Check out the MM Spiders or the Fittipaldi Polaris; I like those as well.
CraigB
I have cleared this trouble code several times and it continues to reapear when I scan the ECU on my 97 1.8T. It does not matter what chip I am running- stock or Wett 1.0. Has anyone else come up with this trouble code before? I suspect it is the "frequency valve" that has been mentioned on this forum before. Is this what preceeds the turbo-wastegate replacement for the early 1.8Ts? If anyone else can help by shedding some light on this matter, I would greatly appreciate it. I have an appointment at the dealer on Tuesday. I am hoping to be able to gather some accurate info before so I can make sure the proper repairs are done.
Thanks
Scott Betzold

This is a little electric valve that controls the pressure the runs the wastegate servo. It is not related to the wastegate failures your are refering to... same system yes, but a unrelated failure.
The error code probably indicates that the electrical valve (or the wiring to it) is "open" meaning the solenoids coil has probably failed, a wire has broken or the wiring harness has fallen off. I doubt it indicates that the valve is physically stuck open.
If you look right under the airbox intake duct right where it connects above the radiator you'll see the valve with a wiring harness leading to it. Takes about 15 minutes to replace.
