I have had my chip for over a month now and I have put 2,000 miles on it! It is AWESOME!!! Totally smooth power delivery, very quick (G-TECH test resulted in 6.69 Sec 0-60 w/ passenger), and no pinging ( knock on wood ). The guys at AutoThority of very nice and always willing to answer my questions, even if it is not concerning a product they sell. I have posted extensive info on my visit to the facilities, and my thoughts in the chip. You should be able to find them in the archives. Happy driving.

Chris
99 1.8Tqms 5spd Silver/Onyx AutoThority chip/RamAir

"Just" a Passat, and only in for a couple of weeks now, but I couldn't be happier with the change. The pull is smooth and so much stronger to redline in all gears. Just a touch of torque steer full bore. Scares the hell out of spouse when on it, but totally not noticed in gentle driving. There is NO difference in smoothness and has been NO pinging (they say to use at least 92, but I've been using Sunoco 94). Got a K&N installed by them at the same time. On the few occasions I have managed to stay out of it, mileage is better (32 mpg av on 26 mile commute - 20 Interstate/6 local). Overall, I've dropped a few (26-27 mpg av). They broke away from tuning big $$ Porsches/BMWs long enough to do the install with a couple of days notice, and were very supportive and helpful in the process.
Jim
99 B5 1.8TM, Silver/Black lea/AutoThority/K&N/Pilot XGTV4...

I'm still waiting for my car, supposedly end of this month, but as many people, I'm still contemplating what chip. My biggest concern is that I dont live any where near CA or Maryland or FL and don't have the access like you or the guys in previous mentioned states to the shops if there are any problems. If I went with AutoThority, could you be a spokesperson/go-between? Your impressions of AutoThority speaks highly of them, and you've piqued my interest, but like I said, I want to go w/ a chip where I'll have the absolute least amount of problems. My wife would kill me if we buy this brand new car, put a chip in it, and then I start having probs with it, not to mention I'd be pissed. I don't remember exactly how much you paid, could you either e-mail me or repost all the facts? $, HP, torque, warranty, etc. :) Thanks a lot!
Chris
1.8tqms lt.silver/grey, sp.seats, trip, roof...2000 model?! heh
