We all agree that the bass on the bose system
is somewhat "muddy". I am thinking of adding
an equalizer to clean up the sound. Has anybody
tried to add an EQ? Do you think is will help?
If so, which EQ model to you recommend?

I don't really know much about the Bose system; how or where the bass is phased. If the car had a separate subwoofer, I would probably just go with an active crossover (approx. $50) and dial the bass in to the desired level. I believe this would still work if there is no separate subs but splitting the signal for mid and low would be kind of tricky. I would just add a separate subwoofer and phase the mids to the speakers they were designed for.
I also am disappointed with the muddy base in the Bose Concert System. So tomorrow at 10:00 I am having a local audio store disconnect the lame Bose subwoofer and install a Kicker PS80 powered 8" subwoofer. I will let the list know of the results. All the rest of the system will remain the same.
