I am not sure which company to buy from. I am not sure what parts I will need for my new 1999.5 A4. I am trying to add a CD-changer to work with my factory head unit. BOth companies offer the Panasonic CD-Changer. Does anyone know which company provides more detailed help in installing the Panasonic CD-Changer? Also, Does the new 1999.5 need the Installation Kit or Just the OEM adapter? Crutchfield is charging $259.95 for the changer and the OEM adapter costs $19.95. Clair is selling the changer for $249.95 and the Install Kit for $63.75. What is your advice? Which company and what do I need to buy?
Thanks
Thanks
BH
goto autotoys.com...go to the "storefront" and scroll down to OEM equipment. They have the 6 and 8 changers with...i beleive... all the required harness adaptors and such...I think the prices are better also.
ajp
I bought the CD changer from Clair. Since our cars are 99.5, they do not require any adapters or kits, just an additional 4 screws (they charge $2). It took me about 30 minutes for the installation. Hope this helps.
BT
99.5 Hibiscus Red A4 1.8TQMSs w/17 Borbet 'C'

Someone else has recently posted that the 8
CD changer won't fit in the revised CD compartment of the 99.5?
Go to www.autotoys.com. They have the Panasonic 6-disk changer and adapter for $230, shipping included. You don't need any additional mounting hardware--the kit has everything you need.

Clair told me that there are some functionality differences. They claim that the aftermarket Panasonic version doesn't support certain features like random play, and like two other features I don't remember.
You may want to ask again to hear about the other two features.
Was it a matter of positioning it in the cubby hole/side panel and bolting it down?
How hard was it to place in the new area? Thanks for answers.
MikeU
