View Full Version : Why do Audi service centers seem so unhelpful?

It seems everyday I read complaints about service departments at dealers not willing to fix something or other. Most recently, its been a complaint about dealers arguing that the heated mirrors really are working when it doesn't appear so to the owner. Since most of the A4s are under warranty, the dealers get paid back costs + profit by Audi, so why are they so unwilling to fix every problem, no matter how minor, that people find with their cars? Just curious about the incentive structure at these places.

I have never had a problem in getting things fixed, from major to minor, even things that broke due to rough usage (like closing the rear seat on the seatbelt holder to things jamed in the cup holders). They have sent the car out to a leather shop to fix marks caused by the seatbelts, steering columns, radios, etc. The only item that was rejected in my MANY visits was a tire rotation after the 7,500 mile service

If you were to form an opinion based strictly on the comments you read here you would think that the Audi service network is less than capable. With that said, I must state that my dealer (Reeves in Tampa) has been nothing short of outstanding every time I've dealt with them. They also sell and service BMW, Porsche, and Land Rover, and perhaps that affects their overall approach to customer satisfaction. I consider myself very lucky that I don't have to deal with some of the dealers that others on this board are forced to work with.<br>

I think that this should be a part of the buying experience specially if people don't have any experience with a particular make or model of automobile. That is why this board is so valuable by informing drivers or would-be drivers of the Audi marquee on whom to trust or not to trust with their expensive purchases. Remember, nothing is perfect out there. Even manufacturers in the upper echelon produce lemons but it is their way of handling those unfortunate situations that sets them apart from other auto makers. So, take heed. If that doesn't work, take action.

My service department just changed my lower control arms and fixed a rear caliper that was hanging up. They realigned my car after I had it lowered. They replaced my rear spring seats( again after I had it lowered ) All of this under warranty and without any fighting with them at all. So, overall,I am not down on my service department, but they can't accept that my mirrors don't heat up. They say they're getting power, but I say they're stone cold. Also, I hope Audi doesn't expect me to pay for ball joints evey 40,000.
