The aggregate cement roads (I wonder what moron or engineering genius invented that sh*t?) in NC really suck and produce a lot of road noise that radiates up thru the tub and rocker panels. It is particularly bad at the outside corners of the rear seats. Does anyone have any experience with eliminating this type of noise? I have seen a product called Dynamat; anyone know if this stuff is effective?
Thanks. Any help is appreciated.

I have Dynmat on all my doors and it did silence the car a lot. A full dynamat install would help significatly but would be a real pain in the A**.
The added thickness of the dynamat screws up the way the carpet and parts fit together. It will take a lot of patience to make sure everything is properly realigned or else lots of rattles will result.
Eric

I highly recommend calling them about their Accumat product over anything Dynamat. They will explain why. Although I have felt no need to apply the stuff to my A4, I did my entire Jetta years ago, documenting the results, and then did most of my Passat in the same manner. I think the biggest area's you can improve are inside the doors, primarily sealing up the large opening in the bottom of each door just behind the panel, and also under the back seat, and under the rear package tray. These are most often the least deadened areas in a vehicle. As for up front, it is very difficult to add anything around the kick panel/firewall area. Most other sections of the car, ie. under carpet, headliner, etc., are already adequately damped, but they do make products specifically for these area's. In any case, call them, ask for Jerry in technical support, and he will answer any questions you have.
Michael 98.5 1.8T QMS

I had Dynamat throughout my MR2 Turbo to eliminate engine noise and enhance the sound of the stereo. It worked great! However, 1) it's pretty expensive and 2) it stinks for about a month after installation.
