What causes the shifter to move forward slightly when you step on the gas? 98.5 1.8TQMS.

Ray, very slight movement is totally normal. This happens in practically every stick I've driven. There has never been a problem.<br>-C.

I think it is caused by the direct connection between the shifter and the tranny. You won't feel this on cable shifters.

I posted out of curiosity, NOT because I had any sense that there was anything wrong. This car is beautifully put together. I like the direct linkage explanation above.
