Guys,
I am in need of an alignment due tosome heavy left pulling which I believe is due to excess toe out on the left front of my lowered A4. My dealer says that I must pay for the alignment, I already expected this. But my question is, he charges $75 if there are no other special tools required to perform this. He says that their machine may or may not accept my car the wy it is and they may have to use other special tools to perform the alignment and in that case the price would jump to $200! Now, have any of you that have had this done needed special tools? I dont know exactly what they are looking for and I want to find out before it is done how much it will cost. They wont tell me over the phone.
Thanks,
Chris

Although my dealer charges the "standard rate" of 1.8hr @$86/hr = $154.80, I have never heard that they charge more to use "special tools."
My 1.8T is lowered about 35-40 mm with Neuspeed sport springs/Bilsteins and the only alignment number out of spec is the front camber. It's a little more negative, about 1°05', which is actually better for handling the curves.
Otherwise, all the other numbers are right on. So, unless you have a radical aftermarket setup, I'd suggest you get a second opinion.
HTH,
Jim

I have the same set-up as Jim and had no problem with Hoffman Audi in East Hartford CT. They aligned my car for $75 and were happy to do it. Another dealer wanted $170. I guess shop around.
