That's twice it's done that. I'm in first gear in the morning, and we have speed bumps at my apartment, and as I go over them, it pops out of gear!!! But just in the mornings though, when the tranny feels really cold and 1st gear is really hard to shift into. Is this something I should be concerned about? (because I am!) thinner tranny fluid needed, WHAT?!?!?
Albert Ur1.8TQ
You should bring this to the attention of your service rep at Audi....you should never "pop" out of gear....

Ouch . . . the bevel-cut of tranny gears keeps them in place under load (they mesh and pull together harder), but under "push" conditions (or under load in reverse) they try to push each other apart, causing them to pop "out of gear" when you're decelerating (like at a speed bump).
At that point, the shift fork is supposed to keep the gear in place; it looks like a little tuning fork (I think) that's pushing the gear into place.
Now, I'm no expert at this, but I would think that's trouble! (Oh, and feel free to correct me; the Audi tranny may be different than the Jeep one. But I doubt it . . .)
