What are the options available where chipping a 2.8 is concerned? I'm thinking about
trading my Porsche for an A4, but the stock 2.8 has about 50 fewer horses than my
968. (Clearly, the S4 would solve my problem, but you can't get those yet.)
URL's are welcome, of course -- I know it's a newbie question.
Best to check the arcived listings under 2.8 chip.
I know there's at least Wetterauer (what I have) and TAP, along with some others. I like the Wett chip, has worked great and seamlessly for me for 40k miles, all weather conditions. Not a huge difference, for sure, and the A4 will still seem like a dog compared to your porsche, but it does make a noticeable difference, however slight, and seems to subjectively improve overall responsiveness and improve a flat spot in the torque curve around 2-3000 rpm. It would be just a touch faster than the A4 you test drive though, so if you really long for something faster, better wait for the S4.
Rich
'98 2.8Qsport
