View Full Version : Price increase at Clair on CD changer for Delta radio?
Mark Blum 11-03-1998, 05:32 AM I called Clair to order the CD changer for my 97 A4 with Delta radio. They indicated that the price was $526. I told them about the $479 price listed on this board and they said the price had risen due to price increases from Audi. I had them talk to the manager who said he would honor the $479 price for me, but that the price was really $526.
Has anybody else here heard of a price increase on the CD changer for the Delta unit? I looked in the archives but found no reference to the increase. I forgot to ask Clair how long the new price had been in effect, but it sounded like it had been more than 2-3 weeks.
Is there a special discount for this forum? If not, I hope nobody else has been waiting to purchase the CD player like I had, since the price is now $526.
Mark
Mark Burns 11-03-1998, 05:41 AM A price change occured becuase of supply issues. We have corrected the issue and have brought the price back down to $ 479.00.
Contact Dave at SportWheel Inc. 970/945-2708 as they are a distributer for Overland and they have the CD player (new) for $350 and mounting bracket for $20.
I just got mine ...
Mark Blum 11-03-1998, 10:25 AM Is that for the Delta radio or the Concert radio? From what I know, the Alpine unit for the Delta was always more expensive. That's the first I've seen for getting the Alpine unit that cheaply.
Mark
nozomi 11-03-1998, 10:32 AM Tony,
Is your changer 100% warrantiable at any Audi dealer in the US and Canada?
If I buy one from an Audi dealer or Clair, I get the Audi factory warranty.
Please let me know. (You can e-mail me if you want).
Thanks.
Nozomi
96 2.8QM
The price is for the Delta radio 96-98.5 model years. The part is a Audi factory part, called audi and they will honor ALL Audi factory parts.
The changer is a new Audi factory unit and a Audi warrantiable item. You can also call the main supplier for the distributors and the contact is Bruce Herman at 408/848-4205.
Steve S. 11-03-1998, 01:40 PM Didn't I talk to you last week on the phone at Eurosport? BTW, WolfSport would not sell the CD changers for Audis...that is what they told me.
Steve S.
97 2.8QM
P.S. I could be mistaken, but something smells fishy here.
Not me ... I work for IBM, just traced the add through the Quattro Quarterly fall issue, found the supplier and then a distributer. Nothing fishy on these docks !
I got the add from YOU last week and traced down the supplier and distributer. So what gives here, it seems like your involed in some kick back !!!!
Mark Blum 11-04-1998, 06:10 AM Another bit of info on this lower cost CD changer.
I just talked to Barry at Clair and he says they have checked into this deal. The changer is an Audi part and should work fine, but it is imported from overseas and the serial numbers would not match up with U.S. units. It is NOT covered under warranty in the U.S. or Canada and when the serial number is checked at the dealer, it will be obvious that it is a grey market unit and not covered. Barry said he talked to Audi himself and got that story from them.
More to consider.
Mark
nozomi 11-04-1998, 06:25 AM Thanks for the info.
I still wonder why the changer for Delta is much more expensive than the Panasonic changer for 98-99 models... Oh well...
Nozomi
I work in the automotive electronic componet area, and I never heard of what Clair is claiming so I called regional Audi rep. and read him your append and he told me he would look into it. He just called back and confirmed that the serial number off the unit that I gave him is covered under warranty. Also that ANY part with an valid Audi serial number is coverd no matter where it is bought and you have a receipt of purchase with a date.
I have also brought an Audi back from Germany that had parts bought over in Germany that when taken to a dealer her in the states was covered.
Now I don't think that I can trust the people at Clair ...

Mark Burns 11-04-1998, 07:36 AM AoA will warranty any part purchased from an Audi dealer. Clair is an Audi dealer.
Parts purchased from outside the AoA organization are not warranteed, Even if the part is OEM. They must be purchased from an authorized Audi dealer in the US or Canada.
If a repair shop buys the part from an Audi dealer and sells it to you in the course of repairing your vehicle, the part is warranteed because the part came from an authorized Audi dealer.
I just reconfirmed this with Audi.
If you could provide me with the name of your Audi regional representitive we would be glad to set him straight on the spare parts warranty.

Steve S. 11-04-1998, 12:47 PM NO KICKBACKS HERE!!!
Damn, maybe I should start asking for some...:-)
Sorry for the confusion....If I remember correctly I believe there is a Tony at Eurospec.
Steve S.
97 2.8QM
