Yesterday there was a message written by someone with a bad clutch which AOA refused to cover under warranty. What I find most shocking is not WHO pays, but HOW MUCH!
I had a new clutch put in my Prelude not long before I got my A4. It was done at a dealer's using genuine Honda parts for $600 total. I think the dealer is gouging this poor owner.
I would get 3 estimates from reputable independent shops, offer to pay the one in the middle on a Saturday afternoon in a showroom full of customers and hire a lawyer if they refused.
$1500 for a clutch, unconscienable!

Especially if it is a quattro. A rear drive is cheap, front a bit more expensive ($600 is a good deal), but AWD gets expensive quickly. I would say max $1K for FWD and min $1.2K for AWD, especially at the dealer.
Todd W

and $1,500 may seem high, but these aren't Japanese cars we're talking about. Price almost anything on a German car and you'll see that you pay a premium for ... well, for whatever reason you decided to buy an Audi in the first place.
This isn't much mileage on a clutch, tho. Makes me think it is largely operator error.

I'm sure that the Passat parts will be cheaper even though they are identical.
