View Full Version : Got an A6 as a loaner again ... gotta love it! John Costin 10-23-1998, 07:07 AM Steve S. 10-23-1998, 07:10 AM At least my Geo Metro rent-a-car gets better mileage...beat that! Man, where are these dealers? I keep hearing that my dealer has got Jetta loaners...still have yet to see one, get one? forget it.
Steve S.
97 2.8QM
David 10-23-1998, 07:35 AM Who is your dealer? Why'd you get an A6? Are you the next hot A6 prospect? Do you let hundred dollar bills peek out from your shirt pocket and drop to the floor as you walk across the showroom? Do you hand out gold leaf business cards? I'm lucky to get a Jetta from Central VW Audi in Dallas. Mt atl 10-23-1998, 07:59 AM :-( rickp 10-23-1998, 09:39 AM ......Hey, I got enough slow appliances already! :-)
Rick
John Costin 10-23-1998, 09:44 AM at least that's my consolation. And no, I do not walk with money hanging from my pockets as stated above. LOL
It's just an agreement that we have, or any other customer for that matter. The agreement is that customers cannot be given a vehicle that's a model below what they are already driving (e.g. if I drive a 98 A42.8, I cannot be given a 1.8T as a loaner. Only something of an equal or higher model), although I have seen older A8 model owners get newer A6s maybe due to lack of cars, but you get the idea. J.Russ 10-23-1998, 09:53 AM My first loaner/renter was a brand-new Park Avenue. What a boat! Yesterday, I got a Suzuki Grand Vitara, plastic-lined tin can with the poorest excuse for a V6 I've ever put the throttle to. It was real windy, which added to the unnerving vaugueness of the steering.
I think a lot of dealers do this to make us realize just how good our A4s are! Hugh 10-23-1998, 10:35 AM You must go to JIM ELLIS. LCP 10-23-1998, 11:39 AM I guess the A4's could be lent out before they became so popular and before my Audi dealer's (Don McGill Audi--Houston) service dept. got so busy; now I get a complimentary rental Corolla. I bet people who take in A8s get something better; oh well, its better than no car at all. Frank Maassen 10-23-1998, 12:47 PM I pulled into the dealer for 15,000 mile check and a new windshield (wiper blade installed up side down) An A6 was sitting there ready to go. However, it wasn't for me. They gave me a new 1999 loaded Silverado (Black- my favorite)to make a few sales calls. Since it was full of gas, I couldn't complain. I got even for being dis-appointed. I drove it about 150 miles. Nice truck $31,000 no leather
Frank Maassen Timothy Buck 10-23-1998, 12:57 PM When I had my CD changer installed at Precision in Roanoke, VA, I got a '98 Acura Integra. Not great, but it could have been worse -- they're also a Mitsubishi dealership and I could have gotten a Mirage! ;-) GSH 10-24-1998, 05:57 AM To everyone complaining the should have an A8 during services:
I have heard from numerous sources in Audi that their transportation policy for A4 & A6 (Non A8) Owners is a rental car with a value of not more than $25 per day, and only in the case of a recall, or a repair which requires keeping the vehicle overnight.
Any dealer who is providing loaners (of any kind, even a Geo Metro) for oil changes or other same day maintenance, or is providing an expensive car (A6 or even a camry) is paying the expense out of their own pocket. (Even if it is a car from the back lot, it still costs them money).
The next time you get a Camry or Jetta, or anything more than what you could rent yourself from Alamo or such for $24.95, make sure you thank your dealer for the EXTRA service THEY are providing. Audi of America only provides BASIC transportation while your vehicle is disabled.
Greg
Greg01@ctconnect.com
PS: If you buy an A8, Audi does specify that you recieve an "Audi Loaner Vehicle". Wonder if any dealers are giving out 1983 Audi 4000 diesels?
|
