Just a quick question....
I bought my 1997 A4 "fully loaded." Why the 3 blank switch panels on the dash? Looks like I skimped! I didn't, honest! I know that on the Frontrac, one is for the traction control...what about the other 2?
BTW, yes I have the heated seats.

One of the blanks we have is filled by a switch in Germany. This switch allows you to control the angle of your head lights. This is a great feature because it allows you to control your lights better depending on weather conditions. It also allows you to lower your light angle if you have a couple of plump buddies in the back seat.

I would like to take a working version of the blanks and create a custom garage door opener using the buttons (a three door version.) Does anyone know if Audi has of the dashboard allows for a functioning switch to be placed in lieu of the fake ones? Are they easy to take out? If I get some info I'll take on a project (and document for all) that shows how to incorporate a door opener there.

The problem with using the blank spaces for a garage opener is that the spare switches are over $40 a piece. If you don't care a universal remote can easily be built to do what you want. Check out my 3car hidden remote FAQ.
I think the in-dash Valentine One display kicks ass. Much better than a coin holder, IMHO.
David
