I have an ABT air filter installed in my A4 which is nearing its 30k service. My question is: should I have the dealer clean the filter or should I do it myself (put the stock filter back when I take it in for service)? Also, what's the best way to clean it? I believe the 30k service involves replacement of the filter (correct me if I'm wrong).
TIA
I don't know if your dealer is like mine, but I'd rather do it myself..just make sure they don't take it out and toss it! I have the RamAir filter from Wetterauer, which is also about to get cleaned tomorrow. Don't know if the Abt is like the Ram, but I got a bottle of cleaning solution and a bottle of "filter impregnating" fluid to return its filtering characteristics after the cleaning. Maybe contact the Abt dealer.
Rich
'98 2.8Q sport
If anything they might throw it away by accident.
Mention to the service advisor that you have an
aftermarket air filter and you will probably be safe.
Steve S.
97 2.8QM
God I love Australia. Sure we pay through the nose for a lot of things, but at least my dealer cleans my K&N filter for me...but then he installed it for me!!!! :-)
Graham
