Why don't people understand this concept and apply it to anything and everything they buy? It is a simple mathematically concept taught to high school students. It simply states that in a normal distribution, there will be a few excellent outcomes and horrible defects at either ends of the bell curve while most average will fall into the middle of the curve.<p>It's really too bad seeing cases like the "unbias A4 owner" ... if you want sympathy.. you got it from me. <p>Wouldn't it be cool (and unbelievably tedious) to come up with normal distributions for troublefree-ness versus parameters such as build date, build location, port of arrival, dealership , etc ? <p>We might discover trends such as "cars from the Neckarsulm plant that are coming into port of Houston tend to have sunroof switch problems." <p>Maybe some quality assessment dept.'s with multimillion dollar budgets already have such systems in place...<p><br>$0.02<br>-K.
