Make sure the seatbelt isn't in the way of the locking mechanism-it's happened to me.<p>97 1.8tqm wett, kn, firestone fz 50s<br>

Make sure the locking mechanism (on the seat side) isn't stuck in the locked postion. Also, I noticed I have to lightly slam mine, instead of a normal push to close. HTH.<p>CraigB

1) Yes, I verified that the seatbelt was not in the way<p>2) The lock position did not matter<p>I will try the slam method, but I think the dealer's going to have to take a look at this one.<p>-henri

I drove my A4 for the first month thinking the back seats were locked in place and they were not. It took a few slams to finally get them to latch correctly. With use, I expect this behavior to diminish.
