I'm sorry if this has already been discussed. I searched the archive but didn't find what I was looking for.
I just bought a '99 2.8Q, which I love. A friend at work is also looking at an A4, but doesn't want to spend quite as much.
I'd like to hear the opinion of folks who've driven both the 1.8T and the 2.8. I'm thinking that the difference probably isn't too much, especially if the 2.8 has quattro and the 1.8T doesn't ('cause of the weight). A fair comment?
Regards,
Fergus
P.S. What "QMS" represent? Q is quattro, I guess but I'm not sure what the M & S are for.

Hi Fergus,
I've driven both the 2.8 and 1.8t and I decided to go with the 1.8t. The engine in the 2.8 is very smooth and I was really tempted, but the 1.8 had a sportier feel and can be easily modified to increase hp. I also appreciated the lower cost with all of the options on the 1.8t. Leather was the only thing that I really wanted but the 1.8t doesn't have that option (just leatherette.) I decided to go with the sport seats so I'm stuck with the cloth interior. I believe that the M & S stand for Manual and Sport.
Chris (Yet another Adobe employee that has a A4 :)

What would you get if you searched the archives for QMS? Hmm... an answer to my question or just a butt-load of messages that happen to have "QMS" in the subject or body?
It's also not in the FAQ. Hence, my question.
