Hi All,
My side markers lenses and bulbs were stolen this weekend. I went to Carlsen and ordered the bulbs and lense covers. Afterwhich I noticed that from one side of the car there are 2 wires sticking out with 2 adapter pins attached to each wire. On the other side I have 2 wires with only 1 adapter pin on it. The other wire looks like it was stripped.
Carlsen is making me go through hoops for something that seems fairly simple. At this point I just want to get some info on what the assembly looks like and a place I can order the parts from and put it back together. Carlsen is telling me they may have to replace the wiring harness and other BS. If anyone out there knows where I can get a diagram or a text description of the parts for the side marker assembly I will be very grateful. I imagine that the wire is connected to a adapter pin which connects to the housing that the bulb fits into. And the lense cover goes over the bulb. However, that may be too simplistic and there is more involved. In any case if someone could confirm the parts involved and a reliable place where I can purchase them I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in Advance
-Asim

I've replace my side-markers with smoked color ones and put in amber bulbs. The wires were not separate and there were no "adapter pins"
When you pop out the side-markers the wires are connected to a bulb socket and rubber seal which slides onto the back of the side-marker. When you pull off the rubber seal this is still connected to the bulb socket. The bulb can then be popped out.
It sounds like whoever vandalized your car just ripped out the sidemarker and got the bulb, socket, and rubber seal with it. You may be able to get another socket/seal combo and solder it onto the wires you have or just connect to the adapter pins, but Carlsen could be right that you may not be able to get the parts from Audi (they may only sell the total harness).
Carlsen is a pretty good place for parts. Ask for Linda and ask about an Internet Discount (I'm not sure if "A4.org" qualifies or you need to use the keyword "Quattro List"). You might also try Clair which advertises on this site.
Sorry to hear about your car. Good luck.
