I noticed a small paint imperfection on the hood of my '99 1.8TQ Avant a few days after I took delivery of it. It was on the painted part of the hood in between the rings and the headlight. It is hard to see but looks like a something dripped on it. The dealer's detail person said it was from water getting in between the car and the plastic protection stuff during shipping. My dealer says he talked to AoA and is willing to paint it. I do not want it painted and returning the car is out of the question. I want the cash amount for the paint job and will decide if I want it painted (which I wont) I am going to contact AoA myself but was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if you think AoA will do anything for me.

I picked up my A4 1.8TM about 1.5 months ago, it's Aluminum Silver Metallic and I noticed as I was getting ready to give it it's first bath that something was wrong...horribly wrong. What was it you ask...an area actually two areas about 1 inch by 1/2 inch of paint near the windsheild washer nozzle that had a hazy white milky quality to it...boy was I pissed when I washed and waxed and it was still there.
Well to make a long story short I took it to the dealer and they said they'd have the area rep take a look at it during my 5K service (about 2200 miles away now)well I'll be damned if it didn't go away on its own...at least from what I can see it appears to have vanished!!! God am I glad I didn't demand that they repaint my hood...there is simply no substitute for factory paint. Maybe you should give yours some time...you've got 3 years of 50K miles to let it heal on its own...at least give it a month, unless yours doesn't fit this description..milky white...ect...ect.

But, if he read this TSB or called the Audi Tech line, he would have known to use a heat gun or tell the owner to park it in the hot sun.
Doesn't seem this dealer is quite with the system!!
