Hey,
Has anyone had any problems with the Neuspeed chip? I am considering "chipping" and there is a TAP dealer in my city, but Neuspeed is a LOT cheaper. Also, I saw that TAP advertises that their chip gains 40 hp over stock with 11.5 psi boost, and the Neuspeeed gains 30 with 11 to 12 psi boost. Is there more to chip tuning than amount of boost? Can anyone give any insight as to which I should go with and why?
Thanks,
Brant
98.5 1.8TQM

I finally had my A4 1.8TQA chipped with Neuspeed after months of reading posts and looking through the archives. I had a minor problem at first. The check engine light came on. I contacted Anthony at GreedSpeed at he said to disconnect the ECU and that the problem should go away. I removed the ECU for about an hour, re-installed it but the light was still on. No problem with performance. BIG difference. The car has pickup now even with an automatic (which I still regret getting. Oh, well). I contacted Anthony again and he wanted the ECU back to check it out. I didn't want to go without my A4 for another 3 days but Anthony paid the shipping charges and sent me a check for $50 for my trouble. Turns out it was a minor problem not related to performance programming. However, I was extremely impressed by Anthony, their service and committment to quality control. My only regret - I waited too damn long. I should have chipped months ago! Whatever chip you decide on, don't wait. Go for it! You won't regret it!

I just did it this week to my 971.8TQM, and I too regret not doing it long ago. It feels good and the downtime was acceptable (2.5 days) and the price was right. I have heard good things about TAP too, but I have no regrets at this time going with Neuspeed and the folks at Greedspeed.
-Micah
I too have a Neuspeed chip. No problems at all. I drove 1.5 hours to Neuspeed and got great service from Anthony. It's been 2-3 months now with about 2500 miles on the chip...NO PROBLEMS. Infact, I just recently started hearing the turbo spinning with the windows down. It was probably aways there but didn't notice because I usually have my radio on. I now sometimes drive with my windows open and radio off just to hear the turbo...It sounds nice.
Oh...when you get your chip, don't forget to get a RAMAIR filter!
1.8TMS Neuspeed
