Regarding the Audi mechanic who scratched an obscenity into my oil filter, among other things:
Many of you have asked that I post the name of the dealership. I have been reluctant to do so because with the exception of this moron who calls himself a mechanic, everyone else at the dealership has been very courteous and professional toward me. Should I bring down the whole dealership because of the actions of one twisted individual? I'm still struggling with that question.
However, I do want to protect current and future Audi owners from having to deal with this person's crap. So I will say that the dealership is in Massachusetts. And if anyone still wants to know the name, you can e-mail me and I will e-mail you the name and location of the dealer, as well as the mechanic's name.
In the meantime, thanks for all of your support.
They can do a lot more to your car than scrawling stuff in the filter, if they think you are trying to mess with them.
Fly low and break dishes to release the frustration. And enjoy your fine car!
they should stand behind you. They should reprimand the idiot mechanic and issue you a formal apology. Personally, I believe the guy should be fired. These are expensive, sensitive automobiles, and mechanics are not just mechanics anymore. They are technicians. They are professionals. As such, they are expected to act in a professional manner. In conclusion, if they do not correct the problem and do not apologize, by all means, proclaim their identity to the world.
That's my $0.02 worth.

I think you should get on with your life, but if the filter fits, wear it.
George
